It showed CCP power at a time when Sino-Soviet relations were deteriorating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mao believed that the US were provoking China- they had constructed runways on Taiwan which were capable of allowing B-52 bombers (capable of dropping nuclear bombs) to land. Moreover, they put <a href=\"https:\/\/stg.igbis.edu.my\/the-past-changes-a-little-every-time-we-retell-it\/1970s-to-1980s\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"11107\">Matador missiles<\/a> on the island too. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An important aspect of the Crisis is the role the two China&#8217;s played.
