International Baccalaureate World School

The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers a continuum of international education. The programmes encourage both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development.

IGB International School is the only International Baccalaureate World School in Malaysia to offer all four IB programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme(MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), and the Career-related Programme (CP). The PYP prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child. The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. The MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation. Research suggests many benefits to choosing the DP. The programme aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically. The CP is a framework of international education addressing the needs of students engaged in career-related education. It leads to further/higher education apprenticeships or employment.

Council of International Schools

CIS is a membership community working collaboratively to shape international education through professional services to schools, higher education institutions, and individuals. The CIS vision is to inspire the development of global citizens through high quality international education: connecting ideas, cultures, and educators from every corner of the world (cois.org). IGBIS became a CIS Accredited school in May 2018, following a rigorous assessment. The accreditation shows that we are a school that shares a desire to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities to pursue their lives as global citizens; and that we display a commitment to high quality international education.

New England Association of Schools and Colleges

IGBIS is the only school in Malaysia accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and joins prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Yale and Brown universities. Founded in 1885, NEASC is an independent, voluntary, nonprofit membership organisation that works to establish and maintain high standards for all levels of education. NEASC Accreditation attests to a school’s high quality and integrity. The “Award of Accreditation” recognises the quality of the school, reassures parents, teachers, universities, and governments that the school provides a high quality learning experience, and results in sustained school improvement and a roadmap for transformation.

Association of International Malaysian Schools

IGIBS has been a member of the Association of International Malaysian Schools (AIMS) since the school opened in 2014. AIMS is an non-profit organisation that supports international schools within Malaysia to the benefit of both teachers and students. Among the many services AIMS provides to its member schools, AIMS serves as a link between the international school community and the people of Malaysia, promoting further international cooperation by encouraging cultural, academic and sporting links between schools.

EARCOS

The East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) is an organisation of 165 member schools in East Asia, seeking to promote intercultural understanding and international friendship through the activities of member schools, and to facilitate communication and cooperative action between and among associated schools. EARCOS inspires adult and student learning through its leadership and service, and fosters intercultural understanding, global citizenship and exceptional educational practices within the learning community. IGBIS became an EARCOS member school in 2018.

Next Frontier Inclusion

Next Frontier Inclusion has helped IGBIS to promote and protect the interests of children who learn in different ways or at different rates. NFI does this by supporting schools in all aspects of their journey towards inclusion. While most dynamic schools have a great diversity of student ethnicities, nationalities, language groups and religions, some international schools are yet to embrace learning diversity. As a member school, NFI has provided IGBIS with valuable resources that have helped with all aspects of inclusion within the school.
